What did you do in the reloading room recently?

3.2 grains of HP 38, 158 grain rnfp bullet
I have a 100 grainish swc , depwnding on alloy its 100-110 gn . Light load if clays and its a light plinker/target load.
For 38 plinkers pretty much a light charge of clays ( what ever load data min is for bullet weight) ans what ever cast bullets I have on hand. I have a good amount of 158 gn / lee tumble lube design to use up before I cast any more 358s

More 223 today. I can't keep them on the shelf lately. Just noticed that hornady has a 73gr bthp that seats to 2.25. Might have to try that.
I'm on the middle of a total renovation of my gun/reloading area. I used to have everything out in the barn, but with a desire for more long range precision, I've decided to put everything into my climate-controlled basement.
I have a couple of benches down there, but the first order of business was to put a couple coats of white enamel paint on them.

Yup. It wasn't very precise. It got me to where I am, but I had an eye-opening experience with someone else's equipment that made me rethink everything.
Can you elaborate on what the eye opening experience was ?

Well, I was always a pretty good (97% ) 600yd prone shooter. But the past 2 years, I've struggled. I'll shoot decent scores, up to the point when we go back to 600. Then I'll fall on my face: 90%, maybe 95% if I was lucky. Those scores would equal a 180 or 190 on a typical 20-shot string. I was thinking I couldn't shoot good prone scores anymore because I was pushing my shoulder into the shot, had bad NPA that I wasn't detecting, or something else entirely. I thought "I suck".
At the Downeaster Regional back in October, my buddy said "Pat, shoot my rifle and ammo". So I did. I ended up winning the Service Rifle Division, and my last 3 20-shot strings were all personal records: 199-12X, 199-13X, 200-12X. Obviously, I hadn't forgotten how to shoot.

Dirty media. I had that a few times. Fresh media and you’re good to go. I used to try to push my media as long as possible but I have so much range brass now that’s dirty as can be. I was able to get more legs out of it when I was running revolver and rifle all the time. No brass hit the ground.
Dillon case lube or home made is my go to.

On trimming 223, I run all my reg shooting/training brass through the Giraud and cut to min 1.740. After that I never trim it again. I've never had an issue making MOA ammo for capable rifles.
I keep my 77gr Star brass separate and process it to 1.750 every reload.

Well that stinks.
They were awesome to deal with $25 a bag and about $20 to ship it. Kept me tumbling for a while.

Pet stores. reptile bedding ( walnut ) and there is also some compressed paper pellet stuff. Its what I used when I was tumbling 5 gallons of brass at once in the cement mixer.

Nice. So you wont be picking up powder kernals off the floor near the mouse shit or having wind blow through the walls disrupting the balance beam scale.
Is that media stuck to case?
Before I got really lazy I tumbled clean , lubed and sized and ran the sized brass in a “clean” tumbler.
Now im lazy , i just wipe the case with a towel after sizing.
Use some metal polish with the media.

More like lube and dirt i guess hit with brake clean then re tumbled with fresh media. Clean dont think lube came off
I think lizard litter was on sale at petco, ask for damaged bags I got several years ago for $1 each because ripped bags.

I don't know if it would with the lube but I cut up a couple of dryer sheets and throw it with the brass. They pick up quite a bit of dirt and crud. Keeps my media pretty clean.
