What did you do in the reloading room recently?

I discovered that winchester primers seem to roll off the 650 ski ramp more so than CCI primers. Not sure what to do with this information.

Additionally, my sizing die has trouble de-priming blazer brass cases. It will stop at the primer seat step, I;ll check what happened, and it has not de-primed. Put it back in the case feeder, and the next time through, it de-primes fine. No idea. Always blazer brass cases.

started setting up a pegboard above my bench to free up more work surface
Jeez, wish i thought of that 50 years ago, duh! my bench is a sty. with all available cabinets and shelves filled to capacity, my bench is now a catch all for any overflow "necessary" equipment and junk i think i may oneday need. i need this pegboard system to organize and some willpower to start tossing stuff i'll never use.

When you're busy stacking it high and deep it can be easy to forget to look all the way in the back at the old stock...these are now living some 45 rounds featuring 185gr Hornandy XTP boolitz and CleanShot powder.

I'm guessing these to be about ~30 years old...yep, they will still go bang ;-)

This week I passed 4,000 hand loads on my Rock Chucker with this 77 SMK sampler pack I made up. I've had a Cabella's special .223 Savage Axis collecting dust for the last three years, and decided to pick up an Field stock to try out during the MDT Black Friday sale-a-palooza. I then added an Athlon scope I had removed from another rifle earlier this year. Even though the Savage has a 1:9 twist, I figured why not try out some 77s. Plus the left overs could be used on other .223 rifles I have.

I hit the long range today and afterwards went to the 100 to try out the Savage. I forgot the sampler pack (of course) but did try some of the others I had on hand, and was very surprised by several of them. The first target was shot with 5x of my favorite 68 grain Hornady BTHP on H335 that works well in my Ruger Predator. The middle one is 77 SMK on Varget that shoots great in my Tikka. The last one was from a batch of 77 grain Midsouth bulk pack bullets I picked up last year. The first two groups are just under and just over .5" respectively, and the last one is 1.775. I guess that 1:9 twist doesn't like all 77 grain bullets equally! This Savage shot much better than expected, so I may put some more time and a little more money into it.

Next step for the case sorter was to do 45 acp primer pockets. This one is a lot easier to make a model since you are only looking at the size of the primer pocket (not doing it by headstamp). I sampled 80 of each, trained the model and it looks like it did better at identifying large primer (that is,no small pistol primer in the large pistol primer bin). I think this is due to the off centered nature of some of the brass, which makes it look like the primer hole is smaller. I have to quantify the amount of errors and I'll see what to do about changing the model. But 2356 sorted in the course of 1 hour 20 minutes...and no fatigue.

I tried some 223 loads using varget. First time using the powder. 23.5, 24.0 and 24.5 grains. 68 gr bthp bullet. Things really started to tighten up nicely at 24.5 grains. Better results than I was getting with blc2. Happy with the five shot results. Going to see if I can get a little more speed out of it while not losing accuracy. I averaged 2650. Would like to get at least another 100 fps or if it.

Tore down one of the 550s to upgrade to a grease fitting pivot and crank.

When I finished that I went to grease the second Dillon and realized it didn’t have all of the needle grease holes that the first one did pre upgrade.

So I swapped the old parts from machine number 1 onto machine number 2.

So both machines got a strip/lube/alignment job and are back up and running.

I proceeded to load four hundred 9mm range fodder.

There's a few on the list but couple of the adjustable pin molds. One in each 45 40 and 9 with no lube grooves they make some neat stuff. Thank you for that i want them all
I love my 454-200 but if I did it again I would go 452374 with hollow points.
The 359125 is awesome especially with tight throated guns. It has a slight bore ride section that helps in chambering.
I don’t know much about his .40 moulds but the truncated cone looks very nice. I’ve been eyeing one for 9mm.
