What did you do to your firearm today.

Just the normal stuff I do to new 10/22's. Bored a cleaning rod hole into the rear of the 10/22 receiver to go from the breach end instead of the muzzle. It should be a standard by Ruger on 10/22's but it isn't. I also switched out the V-block to a Tandamcross one while I had the barrel off to fill the gap the original Ruger V-block has and added a Volquartsen auto bolt release. The V-block will prevent any barrel droop and the bolt release will let the bolt go home by just pulling back on it from the lock position without the fumbling around with the button.

Last week I added Warne maxima scope bases and quick release, return to zero mounts and rings with a Vortex Diamond back scope along with a new 1903 style sling for a stabilizing brace.

As a side note for 10/22's. If you do work on them, I like using the cheapest Tipton rest they make (about $20.00), a compact range vise (above). I have the Best gun vice and others up to a Caldwell DFT 2 but I use this the most for them. I did have it zeroed last week with both the scope and irons to to shoot the cherry on a 50' pistol target at 50 yards. That's probably shot (no pun intended).

Gonna have an epic post soon when I replace almost every internal part on a brand new highish end gun with Cajun parts…

@nitsuj (gonna update mine significantly)

That is one very clean and put together work space. Mine definitely doesn’t look like that.

Breathed some new life into a ban era maadi this weekend.
1993 import, went the whole 9 yards on it.
Had a shop swap the gasblock for an orginal winged one and thread the barrel. Macpherson's Firearms in Brentwood NH, they did an amazing job. Highly recommend!
Added the crutch folder, blue grip, sling, and sight leaf myself when I got it home from them yesterday.
I'm in love to say the least, always wanted one of these!

Took a little longer then expected but finally got the plastic to wood swap on my l1a1 complete. Had a hard time finding a grip, first one showed up broken (thanks usps) second one was great but slightly lighter so it need some oil treatment and stain.
Still a tad lighter then I'd like but I'm tired of working on wood so for now it'll do lol
All and all very happy with the results, and glad to have some bench space back!

Wanted a new range toy for precision plinking. I was planning on a bolt action, but all of a sudden I had a few lower receivers hanging around and my mind was going a little crazy. It's an AR but built up a little different than your average AR. First, it's a lefty; second, it's using an MDT skeleton stock normally found on a precision bolt action rifle. The included extended carbine buffer tube measures 8.5" and with the MDT maxed out my LOP was 13.25". Too short. "The Ram's" description says MDT has longer buffer lengths available but I can't find any online. Call MDT, "nope, we no longer offer different lengths." I needed a longer buffer tube but finding a carbine buffer tube longer than 8.5", and with 1.10" diameter, doesn't seem to exist. I'm kind of stuck at this point with an expensive stock that's a little too short. Thought about one of those folding adapters to extend the buffer an inch. Looking back I dont think one of those would have worked because the upper is left handed. Rifle buffer tubes are 1.10" diameter but at mil-spec 10" long, I'll be at the high-end of LOP. The Ram offers one advertised at 9 5/8" which is pretty much perfect; however upon delivery I measured and it's actually 10". F*cked by the Ram again. lol. I was going for the common 13.5" LOP but settled with the rifle buffer tube which puts LOP at 14" minimum. I'm 6'0" and I think it'll work just fine.

Some other specs:

Rifle length buffer kit
Rifle length gas tube with adjustable block
Steeper grip angle
Single-sided charging handle to clear cheek rest
20" Wilson Combat .223 wylde barrel with JP brake
CMC 2 stage trigger, 2lb + 2lb
Vortex Viper PST2 5-25 MRAD

Vedder holster came in for the HK45 V1 Tac yesterday. Added a comment in the shipping box to request a cut in the holster for the threaded barrel and it came out great. Definitely a stressful process sorting through forums on what people did and brands for this oddball setup but it went well and Vedder made it easy.
