Help Me Crack This "Safe"- Pew Pew Inside

Funny coincidence - I can't remember the combo to my gun safe. ROFL!!!

No joke. I can tell you the combo to my first school locker in 1983 - 37-15-5. Of course, having the same lock for 4 years and opening it 200 times a year helped. Maybe 400 times a year. Gun safe? Nope. Just completely gone.

Anyhow, I went looking for the paperwork with the combo on Saturday. Ummmm, it's not where I thought it was. (I haven't needed it in a decade. But I just blanked it out completely. Middle # is 16.)

I may have to call Eastern. I bought it from them 25 years ago. I'm sure they have records or can put me in touch with the company. LOL

It wasn't thrown away. It's probably in the ammo cabinet. Or above it.
I have mine saved under a contact in my phone- try that once you get a new one or remember.

I may be able to help you with this. DM me if you don’t come up with anything.

[laugh] i dunno, is this opened yet? if this were mine, and i thought there was a chance of anything of worth in there, i'd be tearing this cheap ass (can you call it a safe) safe apart. or at least have drilled out the $8 lock. mr. @Mountain, you are a better showman than p.t. barnum. don't open until this thread reaches 500 posts!
LOL not really the intent but decided I'd roll with it. If the jiggler / lock pick set had already delivered this would be over by now via picking the lock or using vise grips.

It's also a study on how much of society has adopted the instant gratification mindset.

The title of the thread said "Safe". Unless the OP is trying to save the gun cabinet, drill out the lock. I've done it a few times, takes about 2 minutes.
Drilling the lock cylinder will save the cabinet and the lock is easily replaced at the same time.
I used to service coin op copy machines. When we repo'd machines the deadbeats never surrendered the keys. Drilling locks is stupid easy.

On another note, OP says it was dumped at the location he retrieved it ? Did you contact P.D. to see if someone reported it stolen ? Just wondering.....
It was placed in plain sight at a nice apartment complex, in the area where things too big to go in the dumpster are placed and/or are set out as freebies. Seems to be mostly empty- at least nothing noisy in there except for a few shotgun shells rolling around. Anything else is soft, though I don't think there's much in it- maybe a small cloth bag? Tough to see. Might try the Bic pen thing but pretty slammed getting stuff ready for the family Christmas get together.

At least the ammunition was secured properly.😆

If I were OP, I’d do the exact thing he is. Wait for bump keys and if that fails then I’d drill out the lock. I’d try my best to preserve the cabinet because they aren’t cheap and make great ammo storage

Someone dumped a basic Stack-On cabinet at the trash pick up area of some local apartments and I couldn't resist tossing it in the back of the truck. Via some small access holes on the bottom of it I can see there are a couple live shotgun shells in it. Something else is rattling around but I don't see a key. Of course it is locked shut.

Do these have a simple key with tumblers / pins only on one side? Might make a fun lock picking project if yes. There are some ID numbers on the back but I don't know if that helps to source a new key. Worst case I can cut it open in 10 seconds, get the contents, and toss in a metal recycle bin.

Anyone have experience retrieving a key from Stack-On?

If theres a code stamped on the lock you can order a new one. Or just pry it open with a screwdriver.

You are being scammed...

The owner set it out as bait.

He wants you to take it and use it as a gun safe for you own guns.

He has the keys.

He put an AirTag on it to trace it back to your house.

He'll wait a few weeks for you to put your guns inside.

Then he will break into your house with his key to that safe and steal your guns.
