I am looking for a Kahr PM9. I want to give my business to a local FFL.

But everyone has them used for $500-600.
Gun Broker has them NEW for $340-400 (free shipping, no CC fees).

Even NES (expected) had them more expensive than GB.

WTF am I missing?

They are in the approved roster, so that is not it.

Also, I don't care what you carry or your opinion on the Kahr. I am buying one.

Years ago a MA FFL would only transfer the one with the dinky thumb safety on the frame. Would not transfer the safety-less version. Maybe the non-safety ones people consider 'MA RARE' just like an $800 gen 3 Glock?

Isn't MSRP like $800ish? Probably in stores for $600-700 new, used for $500 sounds like what I'd expect if you're a dude that bought a gun at your LGS and are trying to sell it without investigating all possible purchasing options on the internet. FWIW $340 new is considerably less than I paid for mine used.

MSRP doesn't mean anything.
No considerable research is needed besides spending 10 seconds opening GB and typing: "Kahr PM9."

What they used to sell for 10 years ago doesn't matter.

Worst trigger ever. Don't waste your money or time.
Spongy feeling the whole way, the pull weight increases as you pull through. If you pull slow and steady you might think the gun is broken because it's so damn heavy of a trigger pull, and then it will fire. It's so bad they didn't need to make a Massachusetts heavy trigger variant

I have shot one. It felt fine to me. Nothing great, but not as bad as the SP2022 trigger. Talk about sh*t triggers, that thing feels like a 100 yard pull.

I had the CM9 as one of my first carry guns and then sold it prob 10 years ago. Pocket carried it and also IWB. Ran well but the tirgger wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst (like a J frame revolver or bodyguard trigger) either. But definitely loooong.

They're not rare.

Any dealer that isn't crap can get you the non shit version without the gay pride flag.

Why would the people that paid retail at their LGS suddenly be interested in researching market value? The price is based on their perceived reality not actual reality.

@Broc, I got the pm9 when it first came out as at that time it was considered the lightest and highly concealable on "the list"

BUT i was a noob & really didnt understand how other items could be had so easily

all in it is a sweet little pocket pistol, as you know obviously, but with that said i gave it away

fun fact; i believe the Moonies are associated with them...

i find it hard to believe they are difficult to get

good luck

(oversight, I am in process of going green again)

Also, in regard the the thread I linked above, this is one of the times that paying retail at an FFL paid off. When Kahr sent me a piece of shit replacement PM9 with loaded chamber indicator and safety, my FFL took it in and gave me full value in trade toward something not gay.

So there’s the answer to your question. At some point it’s diminishing returns, but I’ll always pay more to buy from a local FFL vs online bottom chaser.

The only .40 I ever owned was a K40. It was a reliable, robust little carry gun but it turns out I hate that caliber and hated that trigger even more. Sold it and never considered a Kahr again. Reliability is paramount though, so in that regard the Kahr shines.

That is the gay pride version. Not interested in that junk.
Black rose edition!…

My opinion (have none atm) notwithstanding, what is the interest in one? The draw?

What is the difference between the gay pride version and the not so gay and not so proud version besides not being as gay or proud? I was about to go buy that one and list it for $499 here :D Now that I know what version it is maybe I'll go list it on whatever gay pride page for $599.

What am i missing that you just didn't buy one for 350 off gunbroker and have it shipped?

MA dealers can be retarded, hell FL dealers want retarded prices...I buy all my guns online.

You are missing nothing.

I am not buying a used gun from a local dealer for $150-250 more than a new gun sells for.
