Wow...that is a great looking gun...what are your plans? going to shoot it or leave it as is to preserve it?

Just started this project. Fitted Frame and Slide from Remsport

My Springfield Armory 1911-A1. It has some gold plated parts done by a previous owner, but I've been wearing that off gradually over the years with time at the range and as a carry piece I've always said I'd get around to getting those parts stripped and re-blued, but it has shot so nice that I haven't felt the need to hurry it along any... that procrastination has been going on about 8 years now... so the ocassional yahoo calls it a "pimp gun"... shoots better than half the crap they pull out!

Greg Derr just finished working on my great grandfather's WWI 1911 which was carried and used in France 1917-1918. All parts are original to the firearm. The original holster and manual issued with the gun are in the photo as well. I also have the original half-blued magazine. Before the hardcore collectors start crying "foul" about rebluing, my great grandfather had already removed the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" markings and bluing was down to about 60-70%. This is a family heirloom which I wanted to preserve (and shoot!).
