What finish is that on the frame?
Yeah it's like I've seen that on metal a thousand times but never as a finish. It must be heat treated or something. I used to have an old Buck knife in that same finish and loved it, of course I lost it somewhere over the years.

Just looked on Doug Turnbull's website and he charges $375 to color case harden a 1911 frame....not too terrible, if I get a custom made gun from Greg Derr or Lou at Business End Customs then either of those guns will be worthy of the treatment. It so happens, this color of cerekote hides the burnt powder residue around the muzzle very well.
