Yesterday I brokered this S&W 686-4 "Target Champion" from the 76 y/o president of one of my clubs

Lots of folks want to shoot the old style guns but can't afford a REAL antique to shoot (and maybe break?), so that's why the market for reproductions.

doing my part to keep this active is getting expensive
I spent some time cleaning the paint (yes, paint) finish off my badly pitted old Colt M1917. As I watched the paint come off and the extent of the pitting revealed in full, it reminded me of the first pistol I ever bought. It was a 1943 Colt Official Police (pictured) that I bought for about $150 at a flee market in southern Vermont. Both old revolvers are ugly as sin but they go bang every time. They're a real working mans guns.

Lazy day at the house, so I threw a few of the revolvers up on the porch rail. I do like Smith & Wesson, and Tyler T-Grips
Model 1917. Unfortunately it has been refinished, but I got it cheap.
Victory.
Circa 1947 M&P
Circa 1967 Model 10
Early 70's Model 15. I was going to get some fancy grips and make it my BBQ gun
Model 586 with after-market grips. It came with rubber Hogue grips. They may be functional, but I can't abide rubber grips on a Smith.
70's vintage Model 19 with Tyler T-Grip. My opinion is that this might be the perfect revolver.
80's vintage Model 36 with a T-Grip
Recent Vintage Model 1950. Only Smith with the dreaded lock. But damn it is a manly gun.
My only Colt revolver, a Nickle Detective Special.

Yes Sir.
It's a mechanical lock that is usually fitted into the frame or under the grip of a revolver so the owner can lock the action with a special key. It's a safety device but most folks don't like the potential of the mechanism failing in a critical situation and locking the revolver.
