Sure, you might prevail in court and you might have every moral and legal right to defend yourself with a gun but doing so comes with a cost. Maybe you take a life. Maybe you go broke paying lawyers. To me it’s worth it if I was pretty sure it was (my) life or death, but some hysterical ponytail diving at me doesn’t quite rise to that level, hard pavement or not. That’s all. Both sides can end up losing in a situation like this.

These are the definitions you need to think about. Could getting punched lead to a lasting injury? It looks like the actual victim is older than I am, I know I don't heal like I used to at 50+ years old. There is increasing evidence of CTE from getting punched in the head.

A decent lawyer should be able to beat this and do away with a later prosecution against him, under double jeopardy. I still would have liked to see the attacker just get beaten down, still not a good look for what was probably our side.
