The Conference Committee has sent official language out - h.4885

For the bill to become law the Governor has to sign it, veto it or she does nothing and it becomes law in 10 days. If its signed or she lets it sit the law will then take effect on 8/1 as specified in the bill

this goes against everything I learned in Schoolhouse Rock... it is enacted if she DOESN"T sign it?

She can't change the law she can only sign it, veto it, or pocket? veto it (the thing that happens if it sits too long and goes unsigned).

If the governor neither signs the bill nor vetoes it, it will become law without his or her signature after 10 days, unless the legislature adjourns before the ten days are up in which case the bill does not become law, this is known as a pocket veto.

This thing was released on the 18th. The session ends on the 31st. So it should become automatic on the 28th.

Damn... i just saw CWulf's post, he must've been driving down 140 next to me and saw me trying to post and beat me to it...

Last year, I was shooting at the Reading range and some douchebag comes up to inspect my gun and asked if I have a tax stamp for that.
That's interesting, a couple years ago there was a guy there sitting in a car just watching everyone shoot. Apparently he felt someone was "rapid firing", got out of the car and started yelling at the guy telling him he was gonna have the president throw him out. That guy was being a total Richard about it.

I stand corrected.

Yeah, we have a few beauts at my range that I'm waiting to outlive.

Great.

Now the pantshitters have something else to pantshit about...

My over-under is that we'll see three new threads about this by the end of the day, all by posters with less than 100 posts despite 10 years of membership. Sheesh.
It matters though. I’m semi pant-shitting only because I have to calculate a 7 day delay into the equation if I buy something last minute - which means tomorrow

7 days? Your delay takes that long to clear or is it because your dealer doesn't run a 7 business day week on the ATF card?

Woburn Sportsmans Club?

I’d say most of the time it’s 3 days, but many times it just never passes and the dealer releases the firearm after the 7 day Brady period or whatever.

In 18 years I’ve only had one purchase not get delayed, and that was a Shield so maybe the Fed just kinda felt bad for me

I’m guessing the penalties are rather stiff for violation of this law.

Given that, an M4gery with a Magpul D-60 will be, in practice, no different than a S&W M&P15 ORC with 20 round Vietnam era magazine.

Anyone see this?

Section 128A.
  1. (f) A bona fide collector of firearms may purchase a firearm that was not previously owned or registered in the commonwealth from a dealer licensed under section 122 if it is a curio or relic firearm as defined in section 121.
Not even sure what they're trying to exempt? Is there any section that says you can't own a firearm not previously owned in the commonwealth?
It's saying where YOU can't buy an out of state CZ82 from a dealer if you don't have a c&r, *i* can

So does this mean it’s business as usual for C&R collectors?

This. I'd wager decent money that if you pulled any ten random M***holes aside on the streets of any town in the Commonwealth and asked them who the governor was, maybe five would know. Probably more like four.
They have this bit on Fox news (I actually think Jay Leno started it) where they ask people random political and historical questions.

They are not tough questions but the answers they get are hysterical. They seem to frequent college campuses, it is amazing how uneducated our educated are.
