The Conference Committee has sent official language out - h.4885

Not sure why this would impact pre-ban AK's unless the mag BS has an impact? What am I missing? FYI I am assuming pre-ban means October 1, 1993. sometimes referred to September 13th 1994 which is when the 922r clause was created.
Preban goes away after this bill. Made in 1983 or 2013 doesn’t matter. Has to be registered by 8/1 or it’s forever not allowed.

There’s not even a registration database yet.

I see; In order to comply with this new law, one must bend the existing laws of time and space. This tracks.

So 7/20/16 or 8/1/24..... who cares about consistency. What does GOAL have to say?
Also would like to hear GOAL’s interpretation of this.

Based on the two sections together it seems it could be interpreted as “legally owned AW” owned before 8/1/24 are ok. BUT also seems to suggest that “copy or duplicate” AW (AR, AK, etc.) would have to have been owned pre-2016 to be “legally owned”.

The grandfather exemption specifically mentions where pre-ban mags may be possessed - private property, shooting ranges, in transit, etc. but does not include carry on ones person in the list of exemptions.
Does transit count in a locked compartment of a backpack?
And if so, then used in defense of such a situation occurs?

Oh this should go well. "All" is pretty inclusive

Section 121B. (a)(1) The department of criminal justice information services shall develop and maintain a real time electronic firearms registration system. All firearms possessed, manufactured or assembled in the commonwealth shall be registered in accordance with this section.

Only 4 personal firearm or ammo transfers per year. What is 4 ammo transfers? Bullets? Instances? Cases??

Preban mags will not be a thing besides what you already have.
Pallets or bust.

If you're able to defensively use a firearm that's in a locked backpack, man, you're better at this whole thing than I am.

Big boy rules. When the law makes no sense? There's a reason for that. Be safe out there.

Well, i havent reached that amount of awesome yet.
But being mass thing where it's all retarded, surely there's a legal 'loophole" to where a proper mag can be "carried" for self defensive purposes outside of the home.

I figured the locking and unlocking would suffice

Yeah, but that makes no sense. The time it takes to unlock your backpack and pull out your 17-round gat is probably time you don't have.

By contrast, carrying an extra ten-rounder one one hip plus 11 rounds on the other and having it ready instantly? I mean, it seems like a no-brainer.

Or? Just disregard the stupid-ass law and carry your 17s anyway. Nobody's ever going to know unless you draw down, at which point you're in big trouble already anyway.

is a hand guard in front of the receiver a forward grip, after all you grip the gun with the non-trigger hand, I don't know any who shoots a rifle with only one hand on the trigger, maybe Arnold can hold an M1 Garand with one hand and be accurate but I can't.

is a guard a grip if it is used to grip?
the shroud, is the wood on top of the barrel on my M1 Carbine (not a paratrooper) a shroud as it protects the users hand from heat...

I wonder what the status of C&R M1 Carbines will be.

“Assault-style firearm”, any firearm which is:

(a) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle with the capacity to accept a detachable feeding device and includes at least 2 of the following features:

(iii) a forward grip or second handgrip or protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand;

(v) a shroud that encircles either all or part of the barrel designed to shield the bearer’s hand from heat, excluding a slide that encloses the barrel.

Goodness gracious.

You're giving this piece-of-shit bill power you shouldn't give it. It is a ridiculous jumble of pooh, and it will NEVER be enforced against you. Just keep on using your carbine the way God intended and dare them to come and take it.

Quit trying to understand something that was custom-created to be misunderstandable. You're playing their game. No need to do that. A handguard is not a handgrip, nor a barrel shroud: it is a handguard. Nobody will ever take you to court over firing an M1 Carbine.

doesn`t it simply state that c&r is no more?

If I read it, a C&R is still there but it is a gun that is not made for general circulation.

Exempts antiques, curios and relics from the definition of
firearm

206 “Curio or relic firearms”, firearms which are of special interest to collectors because they
207 possess some qualities not ordinarily associated with firearms intended for sporting use or as
208 offensive or defensive firearms.

This is still there
1141 (f) A bona fide collector of firearms may purchase a firearm that was not previously
1142 owned or registered in the commonwealth from a dealer licensed under section 122 if it is a curio
1143 or relic firearm as defined in section 121.

From the definition of an assault style firearm. Bold text emphasized by me.

(v) a shroud that encircles either all or part of the barrel designed to shield the bearer’s hand from heat, excluding a slide that encloses the barrel.

Gee. Tell me you don't know how rifles work without telling me.

my 3 M1 Carbines were lost in an unfortunate boating accident

That's the spirit!

Even better: take them out and shoot them proudly. Sneer at the cops as you walk off the range. Dare them to piss on the Constitution.

We're in the right. They're in the wrong. We should all act like it.

99.5% of cops are clueless about even the current regulations, so there is no chance they will understand these, or what constitutes what on an AR, etc. So just say hey, how do you like my pre-ban?

Holy crap, the prices for pre ban mags are skyrocketing.

I thought 80 a piece was bad
That’s interesting. There’s no 8/1 date for preban mags so it’ll go by the effective date of the legislation… which we’ll have to dig through to see when that is. It won’t be 8/1 or when it’s signed.

We shall see.

My comment was solely on what the price is for a preban
