What’s wrong with DA/SA handguns?

I have both. It really all depends on QC roulette and what you want out of the handgun and whether or not it fits you correctly or not. Take a cajunized CZ or even a custom shop model and it's tough to beat. Also all of the Sigs are school buses. My P226 Legion SAO is pretty nice, but, it's still a school bus.
Regular bus, or short bus??

I love the CZ P01, and EDC'd it for a long time. I'm considering looking for a P09, but it's hard to move away from the super light and skinny Shield Plus.

I like the DA/SA because I have kids in the home. They all have learned either the 4 rules or Eddie the Eagle's song, but the DA pull is an additional layer of comfort for me.

If CZ is reading this, I would love to see them develop a micro compact version of the P01/ P07/ P09 to give the market a DA/SA in that size.

I get roasted for carrying a P30 and sometimes a P30SK these days. Also still carry an FNX-9 and can't justify buying yet another pistol I don't need but the CZ nocturnes look nice. All the low drag cool kids are running Glocks and Glock knockoffs like Caniks and Ruger RXMs now. Plastic fantastic with different levels of mushy plastic nipple triggers. Do you wanna be cool or not?

There is such a thing as law of diminishing returns. Shit like TV sets and the " p365 Lego Barbie system" sell guns which is great.

Actually on paper technically you are kinda wrong. The problem is that like 95% of the "Innovations" in the gun industry are answers to questions that nobody ever asked but the products are clearly a form of innovation. Like you take a gun like the Boberg xr9 that's definitely an Innovative product even if it doesn't really answer a demand somewhere.

Actually you'll rarely hear me do this but Smith has the M&P EZ series and even though those guns are nothing that most of us here really give a shit about it's actually a major innovation that answers a question that's been quietly asked for probably a decade or more. Getting women and elderly into handguns because they can't easily shoot/operate the existing ones isnt a terrible thing. This helps to kill off the fagotty default of trying to push revolvers on these people and those people grudgingly having to accept a suboptimal solution for their desires. ( this isn't a knock on revolvers it's just a statement of reality... that revolvers are not great handguns for new shooters especially not short ones designed for carry purposes. )
This is a fair assessment.

You can'tt carry a P30 or a P30SK and shit on a glock trigger simultaneously, the math doesnt work there. Those are perfectly competent handguns regardless though, trigger
aside. Especially not shitting on a Canik trigger, which is basically best in class and would be cleaning up the place if it didnt have the stain of being a polarizing Turkatron brand. Although
this wouldnt be the first time, Back before they got boned by their recall the Caracal-C was pretty epic, one of the engineers that designed it used to work for Glock even. It's too bad they had a P320 like problem.

HK = Angst ridden hipster that pretends to act alpha because proof marks on the slide.

CZ = regular type hipsters maybe like the smiling guy with the fedora

Glock = "I care, but not that much" type of buyer. wants something that works without an excess of frills, wants something that is generally recognized

SW M&P = "Every gun I own is from S&W I refuse to buy anything else cause im a smith acolyte" (this is literally like 80% of S&W buyers).

Direct Glock Clones = usually WTAFAYD aids guns outside of Shadow Systems. weird people, etc. or P80 krew

Canik = Cool skinflint club ? or something. Or obsessed with the trigger which is excellent.

Sig P320s LAMAFDSSFOIDANRFPDQBBQFAG and P365AXGMACROBBQ are where all the cool kids are playing these days but I sort of got past that stuff a long time ago. I dont like tinkering with guns too much.

o0o0o now do the Ruger RXM Rugpul!

HK = I played all the Rainbow Six games in the late 90s/early 2000s and loved my airsoft MP5SD6

I love my Beretta 92FS. The DA trigger let's me carry it like a revolver - i.e safety off. It also has a firing pin block so even if the hammer went down for whatever reason, she ain't going off. I did change the hammer spring to a spring from a model 92D which iirc is DA only. That lowered the DA trigger pull from 12lbs to 8lbs.

Fun facts: the 1911 was never meant to have a thumb safety. Browning designed it so the grip safety was the only safety and it was meant to be carried with a round in the chamber. Was basically the Glock of it's day. The military wanted a thumb safety because of a fear of an accidental discharge - particularly for horse mounted troops. You have to remember that they almost chose the Luger in .45 AARP which had a safety.

To take things even further, the military did not carry with a round in the chamber. So when you see old war films of soldiers drawing the 1911 and racking the slide, it's historicaly accurate. The series 80 1911s added a firing pin block.

Lol. We always carried with a round in the chamber.

Shopping for optics but walked out of the lgs with a P229 Legion. (The most I’ve ever paid for a handgun but they give you a magical coin, range bag AND official inclusion into the Legion. What are some of the reasons DA/SA are sort of disrespected. I’ve always shot my best with 1911 style handguns and it’s always felt like the bullet was downrange before I felt the recoil. Anybody take a shot?

Sweet. Next you'll be wanting a leather lined holster to keep that beautiful finish from robbing off the first time you holster it.

I love DA/SA for the range, or OWB carry for a class or something, but they tend to be wider so I don't use one for CCW.

I had a couple HK USPc that I sold. The DA on those was so completely awful in comparison to the Shadow 2. The HK DA was well over 10 lbs and it stacked horribly — it was basically unusable.

I really liked my USP compact til I started shooting it. Got rid of it shortly after. It was also really snappy.

The only DA/SA pistol I would own is one with an exposed hammer that allows me to manually cock the first trigger pull to be SA

If you want to carry cocked and locked, then get an SA only gun. Planning to manually cock on the draw is not a good idea — it adds about 1/2 a second to your first shot.

Even a simple spring change made the CZ better. I can’t do the sigs unless it’s the elite with the beavertail and even the it’s still a school bus’s

Now HK and as much as I want to blood diamond larp…HK just mediocre all around
