Don't knock that small primer brass......started running super low on large primers during the hight of covid craziness......had shit tons of small pistol primers and just broke into my stash of federal small primer 45acp brass.all large pistol, none of that crap small pistol
Keeping spp 45acp helped me out during covid craziness. I ran super low on lpp ans just tapped into my spp 45acp brass stash and loaded those.I agree with you but only because I have more than enough to keep a good rotation.
There are some guys over the years on CastBoolits that have specifically requested the small primer stuff. They said it allowed them to keep one type on hand. Once large primers were hard to get their hands on they look like geniuses.
I used to throw the stuff away, but now I’ve put it to the side just in case somebody wants some. I’ll give it to them.
Jeez wish I'd have known u needed 38 brass. I have 5 gallon pails full of once fired 38....a few of them. I've mailed brass to folks on here before that needed 38 or 357.Bought 500 pieces of .38 spl brass from Xtreme Bullets recently (needed more brass) , for some damn reason these things require me to use force when coming out of the powder drop die. I measured and compared to other brass I have , and they seem to be the same dimensions. I also ran a couple of pieces of other brass through the die and it's smooth as silk. Does anyone have any input?
I know guys that shot BP competitions. They would shoot. Extract the fired case and drop it right into a container of water.Loaded 100 357 mag with 21.4 grains stripper glitter and a 125 grain jhp. They are for the henry rifle. I don't shoot 125 grain projos using h110 in my revolvers......had experience with forcing cone erosion using too many of those loads.
Sifted out a batch of 45acp and sorted by head stamp while a fresh batch of 357 brass went tumbling.
Took my spent 38 cases that I made with 777 blacknpowder substitute and put those in a separate coffee can.....Jesus I fired those like 3 weeks ago and the brass is totally green from corrosion. It's no joke that shooting bp and bp subs you have to clean your shit right away. If I remember later I'll take a Pic 4 y guys.
Good idea. I have so much 38 brass I'm not concerned with throwing these in the garbage.. just thought it was crazy how corroded that brass got.I know guys that shot BP competitions. They would shoot. Extract the fired case and drop it right into a container of water.
Neutralize and keep the fouling soft.
That looks like the dummy loads I left in a gun belt for display purposes. Green!!!
These looked like that after leaving them in a coffee can for only a couple weeks. That looks like the dummy loads I left in a gun belt for display purposes. Green!!!
I've thought about getting the one with an audible alarm as well so I wouldn't only rely on the visual. But good catch!I was just nearing the end of 450 9mm when I noticed my powder cop die indicating a double charge....not sure how I did it but thank God for letting me catch it. I'm sure it would have destroyed one of my Berettas and possibly my hands as well or even worse.
Good catch. What press are u loading on ?I was just nearing the end of 450 9mm when I noticed my powder cop die indicating a double charge....not sure how I did it but thank God for letting me catch it. I'm sure it would have destroyed one of my Berettas and possibly my hands as well or even worse.
All I can tell you is that I had related issues with 9mm Xtreme-branded brass. It's very hard, I think. Brass has a somewhat variable amount of copper and zinc. I don't know what gets you whatever the Xtreme guys ordered, but the pieces I had were definitely different.Bought 500 pieces of .38 spl brass from Xtreme Bullets recently (needed more brass) , for some damn reason these things require me to use force when coming out of the powder drop die. Yeah when you see that a 45 ACP does almost what a black powder 45 Colt loads could do it’s pretty cool.Switched my press to use large primers and loaded some 45 Colt. First time loading this caliber, crazy how little powder is in the case.

Looks like a sweet setup!I can’t remember the last time I ran my reloaded, but I’m happy to say it’s like riding a bike. View attachment 896059
I use titegroup for 44 magnum with 240 grain cast lead. I don't have my data in front of me but i believe I use 9 grains and max charge is 10 grains. Get 1200 fps from a 4 inch model 629. A respectable load in 44 mag considering I'm only using 9 grain charge.Switched my press to use large primers and loaded some 45 Colt.
