Thx for the heads up on that one. I try to buy primers when there are no hazmat fees. No large rifle primers, but I picked 3000 small rifle, 3000 large pistol and 2000 small pistol. All CCI. Also picked up a couple pounds of Longshot for the 10mm.

I just grabbed 5k Small rifle from mid south mag tech 6cents each 350 to the door

I am finding that I'm not reloading 223 for much less than I could buy it for lately. 68 grain match hornady ammo is 65 cents. I'm probably around 55 cents. The components have gotten very costly.

308 is a different story. I'm doing it for almost half the cost, I think. I haven't run the numbers lately.

I have loads of 9mm from when it cost me 11 cents to do it. I ran some quick numbers and I would be hard pressed to load it for less than what I can buy it for today. Powder and primer prices seem out of whack to me. Just doesn't make sense.

Match stuff costs for the projectiles. I'm stocked with that puts me at 35 cents with 69 grain Sierra. Plinking I'm at 21cents but when I have to buy powder again those numbers will be blown I buy 55 grain seconds 6 or 7 cents. I grab stuff when I see a deal and when have few extra bucks. 9mm my numbers are ridiculous low running Montana gold or Everglades at 6 cents spp primers at pre panic prices $ 15k powder at $10lb. 45acp for time casting and primers have stock of old powder from if I had to buy now would be 4cents powder 6 primer 20 projectile 30cents isn't bad again only loading for cost of primer unless I'm lazy.

Deprimed, cleaned, trimmed and chambered 50 pieces of 308 brass. This small lot has been fired four times and it is the first time I've had to trim to length. More than half were still fine. I also did a redneck anneal. Into the drill and did a six second count in front of the torch. My plan is to try to use this small batch over and over to see when I get failure. I plan to redneck anneal again after another three or four firings. I'd be thrilled if I got ten firings out of them.

New. I truly have no idea how long rifle cartridges will last. Only in the past year that I have really started to load a lot of it.

I've been keeping track of all of it though so I can get a better understanding. I'm loading 308, 6.5 and. 223. All of them are just now getting to their third and fourth firings.

brass will last plenty if you do not make it way too hot. monitor how it flattens (or not) primers after the shot, and use garmin or other tool to capture speed of your reloads.
with reasonable loads you will have good longevity.

IME it really depends on what brand of brass and how you treat it. Higher quality brass will last exponentially longer than some of the cheaper stuff.
 
Last week I had bare concrete walls. I anchored pressure treated 2x4’s every two feet, added 1/2” plywood on top allowing me to secure wall panels and whatever else anywhere I want. Mounted all wall panels except one which will happen once I decide which side to mount it.
Ran a new circuit for basement receptacles, four of which are on the bench.
Added two 4’ LED lights.

Bench to ceiling is 52” tall which is why there is a 4” gap at the top of the plywood. Made it easy to run wires but now I need to trip a piece to fill the gap.

I had run out of one of the powders I used for 9mm, and had a bunch of others that I hadn't chrono'ed and function checked yet, and had a steel match the next day so just looked at some load manuals and plucked out a safe load to run, 4.1g of W231 with 124g FMJs at 1.145". Except... it was too weak to run the slide with a full magazine. Had a stovepipe, a failure to load, stuff like that on the first round of the mag. So had a few malfunctions to clear through the match.

Went today to run a load with BE-86. 5.7g of that and 124g FMJs set to 1.140" with CCI500s ran just about dead on at 1050fps out of a 4" barrel with good function. Ran a few to get the barrel dirty, then 10 for the test. High 1082, low 1028, SD 18, average 1049. Not screamers, but good and reliable with all my mags topped off, and was able to make 100 yard hits on a full size silhouette.
