I have one on the the left side as well for my thumb to rest on and my index /middle finger kinda pull back on the one you can see.

Is this a rifle you’d ever use for some practical purpose or is it sort of like a fantasy build like those swords you see middle aged virgin males put on display in their moms basement that look like they’re from a Nintendo game?

You're right that is in a terrible spot!
Works for me and the way I grip the handguard.
Middle,ring and pinky can actuate it
I despise the arm all the way out and c-clamp method.

We need to see a picture of you gripping this rifle.
Would it work well in fighting scenarios or does it just work well when you’re standing up outside in one spot on a range? Not being condescending, just things to think about.

Not 100% sure. Don't have anywhere I can move and shoot. But standing and shooting, it works for me.

They may suck for you. But there fine for me. And just because it's not the mainstream way of doing things or your way, doesn't make it stupid or suck.
A lot of the stuff you got attached to that might be making you less capable and not more. It may be worth trying something that would mimic real world scenarios even to a small extent. I’m guessing you’d ditch the bipod and the hand stops right out of the gate.
I’m only saying this because you said it’s your go to rifle. If it was a fantasy type build going for a certain loon then so be it. Go nuts. But that sort of thing doesn’t translate well to fighting/defense.

Very cool. Have you tried 77 grain loads in it vs. the lighter bullets and if so how do they compare in terms of flash and muzzle blast?

Only 55 grain and 62 grain. My 77 grain OTM rounds have only been through my 14.5-20” uppers. In terms of flash and muzzle blast, I’m only running these SBR uppers suppressed.
I was curious about the 77s because I have a friend with a 10.5” suppressed upper and he still has a decent amount of flash and blast but I heard the 77s are more tame for SBRs.

I have a bunch of optics from Trijicon Accupoint, Accupower, Credo FFP, and NF LPVOs, to Aimpoint PROs-CompM5, T2s, to Eotech EXPS2 and EXPS3.
Most of my shooting is within 200 yards, and usually well-within, so I like a lot of Aimpoint red dots and Eotech holos, especially on my PCCs and SBRs. I typically run EXPS2 and EXPS3, sometimes with a G33 or G45.

I'm about 90% sure this is how it will be set up, gotta hit the range in the next few days to see if it works for me
Sighted it in the other day and it's a tack driver as I expected, oddly it's my first BCM complete upper, all my other rifles are DD and FN.
