Observations on the VTAC Troy Industries Battlerail

This is one VERY lightweight offering from Troy. Rail AND barrel nut weigh in at about 9.70oz. This tube actually uses a propriatary barrel nut due to the design change. One HUGE benefit is if you extend your arm outward and wrap your hand around the tube, it is a lot more ergonomical. Installation is pretty straight forward.

12.5" BCM Upper Receiver Group
9" VTAC-Troy Battlerail
AA AA15 Lower w/ Stag LPK (registered lower for a SBR)
Troy FDE Battle sight
BCM FA BCG
Magpul MIAD Grip FDE
Magpul Enhanced Triiger Guard
Magpul MOE Stock

Still need:
Front Sight
Aimpoint RDS (still tossed between H-1 and the Comp C3)

OAL as pictured: 29"
OAL w/ stock extended: 32"

Hello Everyone here at NES,
My first post. My K30R AR-15 7.62x39 and my Preban XM15A1 True 5.56. I love shooting these rifles! I guess no pics, not sure how to upload the images.

Frag Out!

I don't get why people put a bipod on a Close Quarter Combat Rifle. Am I missing something? Seems to me that it is just added weight with a minor benefit.

Really, clue me in here.

I would think you would want a light, durable rifle?

They are not carrying it for miles on patrol, kicking in doors, or shooting down a back alley. They go to the range and then they go home.

My first AR; just finished assembly. Haven't shot it yet, still waiting for loctite to cure. Build total came to $625. I was somewhat hesitant to go with a 20" H-bar setup, I was worried about the balance being too front heavy. I'm actually really happy with the way the rifle balances. Still haven't decided on optics, so the irons will do for now.

Delaware Machinery Lower Reciever

Just drilled & tapped the forearm and added a sling stud. Picked up a cheapo woven nylon sling and put that on today. I'm still up in the air about what to do about optics. It will mostly be a range gun, with shooting out to 300 yards, but will also serve as a coyote gun (hunting here the shots won't be further than 75 yards max.

I'm thinking of going with something 1-4x....but I'm still not too sure. Any ideas?
