AR-15 thread... I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

Sweeeet. YI love the Magpul cool aid my own self. :) I am also a big fan of OD. Just the thing for Cambridge too! How are you liking the AFG, I really like it. I think the CTR is my fav stock as well. Nice work!

Thanks! I love the AFG. I tried to go back to a VFG and it just felt unnatural.

I have an IKICKHIPPIES SLAP plate and I think it is one of the best ones out there if you use HK or Mash hooks, or just straight sling hookup. Very solid, check em out.

Love the name of the plate... [laugh]... looks like a good competitor to the Magpul ASAP. Does it allow a collapsible stock to collapse completely?

Well, the ACS stock I have on that lower did collapse all the way. I have a Magpul ASAP mount on another lower, time will tell, but I think the IKICKHIPPIES SLAP is much more solid.

Interesting... I may have to try that one out whenever I get around to building my other AR.

hanwei,

How do you manage an adjustable stock in MA?

Flindtoid said it... pre-ban lower [grin]

Nice Job! How do you like the MI fore grip?

So far its really nice, next AR i'll drop the money for a La Rue or DD, but I felt the price on the MI could not be beat. I believe I paid $140 for it. One thing that is also nice about it, is that it's advertised to fit a gas piston...so If I ever wanted to its nice to know I can.

Here's mine, finished it a couple months ago. Hopefully will be giving it an Eotech 512 at some point this summer, so keeping my eyes open:

At first I loved the rifle length rail, and I still really like how it looks in person. That said, if anyone wants to trade a Spectre length rail for a rifle length rail, or is doing a build and wants a rifle length rail, I'll sell this one for the price of the spectre rail so I can put that on. I feel like the barrel was a little shorter than I expected (was picturing a 16 plus the 1.5 inch comp, not a 14.5 plus the 1.5 inch comp)and it may just look a little better. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on it though.

Defensive carbine, version 1

Last fall there was an article in one of the popular gun magazines describing the ideal features of a defensive carbine. The main attributes were "small" and "light." Here is my first attempt (winter time build) to achieve this.

Can you name all of the components and/or features?

Defensive carbine, version 2

This is actually almost identical to the sample build in the magazine article. The reason this is version 2 is that it took me a lot longer to get some of the parts I needed.

Again, can you name the key components and why they were chosen?

Is that lower+grip+stock one piece?

I love my YHM QD sights. How do you like them?

I like them very much. It was a choice between Troy and YHM and they just felt as better fit for a rifle that I am building at the moment. Plus its a local company, which is nice. Will be taking them to the range this weekend.

I don't have an accurate scale to weigh these but they're very light and quick to the shoulder. I ordered the pencil barrel (0.625" gas block) from a company in Texas but it took me almost a year to get it. In the meantime, I discovered another source that shipped me an in-stock barrel in 4 days:

They were very efficient and a pleasure to do business with.

BTW, the muzzle device is a Levang linear compensator
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/cid=0/k=levang/t=P/ksubmit=y/Products/All/search=levang
That was permanently installed on my rifle by Remsport Mfg in Ludlow, MA. This is another company that is very efficient and a pleasure to do business with.

I got the upper (with no forward assist) from http://www.lesbaer.com/223parts.html

Lastly, the free-float front hand guard is carbon fiber and I got it from
http://www.hiperform.com/hand-guards.htm

Mack,

What is the all up weight? Whose pencil barrel is that, bushy?

Thx
