Dealing with the gen z.......I swear some days I just want to say f*** it and head to the woods and be a hermit.

Boomers are the ones who served and died in Vietnam (and, no, I'm not a Boomer).

What does that make them better or something? Vietnams over and we lost because boomers wanted to f*** for peace and buy new cars that didnt suck for $5,000, houses for $30,000... then they got into politics and....

...What have they left for their kids and grandkids? Nothing. They just raised them in bubbles to be weak, and now they want to bitch and cry.

But they still expect us to go fight for cheap gas and their stocks and jobs and "democracy" where a 25-30 year old kid has to fight to get a decent job to afford $3k a month rent.

f*** boomers. Cant die off quick enough.

Sorry that your life sucks, certainly wish that you had better opportunities growing up.

Your angry at the US government, the Boomers that went to Vietnam didn't create the world we are living in now, the government did.

Boomers played that hand they were dealt just like every generation did, it's always the government not the people.

Just because the Boomers could run a household on a factory job doesn't mean they are responsible for the harsh reality of kids in your generation, or mine for that matter.

I can tell you my great grandfather, my grandfather and my father never rooted for young kids to go off and get killed in some foreign land for bullshit foreign government policies, it's the shitbags that call the shots in the oval office.

Boomers could run a household on a factory job because they had different standards of living. My parents were boomers.......had one used car......went out to dinner once a month......leftovers were saved for the next night dinner.......vacation once a year was 3 days in a cabin in the white mountains......we were homebodies. And if you told my dad he was poor he'd have punched you in the f***ing face. Every generation since......what it means to be "poor" has changed......families that are considered "poor" today got more shit than I ever had as a kid......WAY more shit......and we weren't considered poor we were "normal" in my estimation.

I stopped answering my phone during my off time the first time I was handed a mandatory OT shift.

I worked more than my share of OT, but only when it didn’t cause problems at home. After that, I never answered for a work number, strange number or 90% of my co-workers.

the boss had a good thing with me and he f***ed it up for one stupid shift.

Lol I don't know what OT even is haven't had an hourly job in 30 years.....the military ain't hourly and I've been in management ever since. I have called hourly guys at home......sometimes we need a last minute load delivered or trailers moved on the weekend. I've had guys answer and tell me I'd come in but.....I'm 3 beers into this football game lol. I'd never hold that against them the weekend is theirs.

Always been that way. I worked as a cashier at a store at 26. The boss' niece was hired. Useless 18-something. (This was before cell phones - so she'd just chit-chat with everyone). Lousy at it when she had to clean. She got caught stealing, but Auntie still didn't fire her.

Thank the Feds. Every week it's some other requirement added.

Fill out an application. Reading-Is-Fundamental here (but don't worry if you don't know how to spell your own middle name). Make sure you have ELDT training (online; extra money). Make sure you clear the Drug/Alcohol clearing house list. Pay a fee. Take multiple tests. Re-pay and re-take the failed tests. After 10 tries, pay for a license (in advance) and go take a road test. Several times. Don't bump that curb with a tire, or forget to mention a missing valve stem cover! Those are fails right there. Don't forget to buckle up before starting your truck, or you'll fail for that, too. Fail the test; repay; test again; fail; repay; test again. Oh, and if you're adding Hazmat, don't forget to pay for fingerprints first, wait days for the result, pay more and take another written test. If road testing with a Haz-mat vehicle, make sure you've got your "purge" certificate first, showing every nasty thing has been cleaned out of your tanks or whatever. See, easy!
Don’t forget your medical card requirements.

Well said,, I grew up the same way.

But it's still not true,, nobody nowadays is working an entry level job let alone a factory job and running a house, a car and feeding his family. No matter how much they try it's not happening.

The whole generational thing is tiresome to listen to, especially with NES and the Boomer hate thing, as I said the Boomers played the hand they were dealt like getting drafted and forced to go to war, nobody was drafted or forced to go to the desert to fight terrorists, they all joined up on their own to fight the governments money war

]Applying for a USCG Limited Master license. Take test, get physical, take drug test, swear affidavit at USCG base, pay fee. To carry a small # of passengers on a launch, inland. Brutal.
Hoisting license needs a medical card as well.
It’s a joke so instead of me continuing to work I said F it.
I would have gladly gone back to hauling dirt for something to do as I’m more than healthy enough.

Your look when you realize she tossed all the gin overboard

Humphrey Bogart as boat navigator Charlie Allnut in The African Queen ...

......so.....a guys asking to leave early cuz reasons......asking for extra days off cuz reasons......boss I'm gonna be late today cuz reasons. If you don't have the empathy the guy calls you a toxic leader......you don't address the attendance issues and the rest of the team calls you a pushover.
Hahaha--I've had to deal with that a few times. Because I'm nice, I'd preemptively give them lots of unpaid time off so they could get their shit together. I was empathetic to the people who were "on my side". Y'know, the ones who kissed my ass while working theirs off.

There are those that always seem to have a crisis and need extra time off......it gets old after awhile.

And in Ma anyway you need your state license complete with continuing ed bs every other year and a federal license that needs to be renewed every 5 years with a written and a practical test.
Hell I just had to get a cori consisting of digital fingerprints at 100 different angles for an upcoming job at a school that hasn’t opened yet.
The amount of money and aggravation required to go to work is retarded.
I can’t wait to say F it myself.

Im not, i simply said instead of constantly bitching about the people who will have to go die to preserve your way of life, have a little f***ing respect.

Boomers are notorious for this. Do the younger gens have issues? Absolutely, but try, as hard as it is for the entitled boomers, to look at it from someone elses perspective. If i was a typical millenial/zoomer i would not really care either.

Luckily, i was raised by a couple good boomers who raised me with good work ethics, and used those to excel in private business, the military, and now government work. But both my parents recognize how terrible the majority of their generation are, much like i recognize the flaws of my own.

It simply pains me to see a bunch of soft old dudes on here crying about kids who are out there trying to do what they can for themselves. Those kids have grown up in a world where the government (run by almost entirely boomers) has done nothing but lie to and extort them their entire lives while also expecting them to go die to keep gas under $3. Have some f***ing respect, maybe they will return the favor instead of just hoping you all die off sooner.

I came to a realization this year that I show up, do my job well and that’s about it.

I wouldn’t show any emotion in a conversation like that with my boss. That can only potentially be used against me later on.

He was raised by Boomers. That explains everything. Everyone knows all 65 million boomers (which now includes about 10 million immigrants) were raised by the Silent Generation to oppress our own children.

interesting, though i wonder how many more alphas will be born before the next generation "starts", and how the graph will look then.

I find it somewhat idiotic to break it down and blame it on "generations" of people. There are good and bad eggs in all the generations, lazy/entitled people and hard workers in all generations. The common theme seams to be, as time goes on we end up with more and more lazy and entitled people and less and less hard working people.

My opinion: It only makes sense that the younger generations have more lazy and entitled people in their group because they have had technological wonders in their lives from the start that have allowed them to be lazy and allow their parents to raise them to be lazy. Also, for the past ~40 years, the amount of coddling has increased to ungodly levels. Younger people were raised in this age where you can do no wrong and if you do there are no consequences.

Technology has made everyone lazier, and coddling/no consequences has made everyone somewhat irresponsible, but in general the younger people have been engulfed in it their entire lives. All goes back to the hard times>hard men, easy times>soft men. The average US citizen living in poverty right now, is not the same as the average citizen living in poverty 50-60-70 + years ago. Free cell phones, Mass Health, EBT cards, housing vouchers, etc VS. government cheese and rations. The good news is, if people can learn and accustom to be lazy pieces of shit, they can also learn to be hard working, productive members of society, only problem is the latter is usually much more difficult.

Hey remember in 2020 when you supported government forcing everybody to get vaccinated because doing so would save "grandma"?

The rest of us remember.
Nice deflection, son of Boomers! So are your parents as bad as the rest of us? Or are they exceptions? How can they have escaped the Monolith? If they are like most of us they were raised by Silent Generation parents, who endured the Great Depression and were junior service members in WWII. They must have fed you vituperation.

No, I didn’t support “government forcing everybody to get vaccinated”, a couple of you GroupThinkers have poor reading comprehension. But by all means quote the post..

Had COVID before the vaccine existed. Got vaccinated because I couldn’t get cancer treatment without it. So f*** off.

Yeah thread drift.
Just quoting you to say that I wholeheartedly hope that whoever refused your cancer treatments over that stupid pointless fuggin shot winds up in a wheelchair and diapers along with a feeding tube and still has the mental wherewithal to know that’s how they’ll spend the rest of their miserable life.
And I also hope that they live to 110.
That’s as nice as I can clean that up for a public forum.

Carry on….
