New Folks Check In and Say Hi #4

Just checking in here to say hi and get the first post out of the way. I was USMC until 2012, been living back in MA, decided to pick up my LTC A, currently on the prowl for my first pistol purchase here in MA as a civilian, which brought me to this site. Hoping to get my hands on either a 229 SAS (9mm) or an XDS (9mm) to start, both of which seem to be a pain in the ass to find due to the fantastic gun laws here! Either way, excited to get started with a new community, certainly a lot more fun going to civilian ranges than getting stuck on the USMC ones!

Hello Punjistick,

Thank you for your service! Welcome to the board and happy you made an introduction. Sounds like two great choices for your gun purchase. Hope to see you get active on the board and hope you enjoy your time here.
Thank you for going green as well in support of the forum!

Hey Everyone,

Just registered and just getting into shooting. Just bought an M9A1 as my first pistol and really love shooting it. I also really like skeet and trap, although I still don't have a shot gun, that's next on my list. I normally go with friends or family. Live in Quincy, and looking into the braintree club.

Not newly registered, but newly Green for the first time. I spend most of my time shooting rimfire bolt guns and am just starting to shoot trap and 5-stand at my club. Skeet... way harder than it looks, I'll have to come back to that later [smile]

Welcome!

Five stand has it's place but I found it WAY confusing only because you're competing against those that know the courses, which could be like 20 different throws. Try skeet or trap if you want to practice shotty.

Hello, I just joined recently after a long time of reading the forum. Im looking forward to interacting with fellow gun guys, hopefully at some point I may contribute something to the forums.

Im a big fan of Glocks, and AK style Rifles.

Not NEW, But RE-Newed from a New free state (Florida)

Hi all,
Just renewed even though we have moved to the Florida Gulf Coast. I have to say, I have not found any other shooter's forum that is lively, informative and interesting as NES.
We moved to Cape Coral, adjacent to Ft. Myers, FL which is the home of Red Sox spring training. It's not Fenway, but wifey and I went to the St Patricks game with the Sox vs St. Louis. great seats, $29.00 and they have the Green Giant at the new Jet Blue Park.

So much for the travelogue, nice to be able to purchase guns down here, with names that are illegal to say in Mass. The New England free states are a little too cold for our liking (Spent last Christmas here in shorts and sandals - no socks of course, too young for that and the wife doesn't have blue hair yet).

Glad to see a lot of the old members still posting and new blood keeping NES lively!

Chuck & Connie

Hey guys just checking in . I was first licensed in Beverly in the early 90s with a ALP concealed. That expired years ago and never renewed when I moved to Danvers but I am currently awaiting delivery of my new Danvers LTC-a app processed in 6/24/14 called Dcjis Friday and it was in printing so hopefully will see it soon

Hello and welcome Martin,

Glad you found the forum and hope you will become active in the threads. Wish you the best on the LTC process.

Tony from Acton checking in...

Just wanted to say hello! My name is Tony, I am a techie living in green Acton who finally fulfilled his longing for a classic SIG. Got my LTC-A from our Acton PD in 4-5 weeks with not the least amount of trouble, then a Martin Burns range permit in a week. Currently enjoying my first SIG, a P226 in 40 S&W and 9 mm which I adorned with rosewood grips, SIG Night Sights and a SIG mini-laser; currently shopping for a nice holster (I like Ryan Grizzle's IWB/OWB WarPig model). I am looking forward to joining Harvard Sportsmen's Club soon as I have a few buddies and acquaintances as members there--and I like very much its wilderness-like surroundings.

This is an active, very helpful and friendly forum, and I'm looking forward to participating in it from time to time!

Hey all just joined, quick question turned in my LTC app 1 1/2 months ago still haven't recieved appt yet is this the norm?

Hello, welcome to the site.
Its not uncommon for it to take long but that is still an aggravation. There is a thread about wait times in different cities and towns. You may venture over there and see other users experiences.

Hello. My son pointed me to the forum And I registered last week. Looks like a great forum!
I live in North Central Ma. I enjoy Trap, Rifle and Pistol shooting.

Hey guys. I've been using NES as a reference for years. Always good gun talk (with just enough Massachusetts smartassery) I thought it was time to get in on the conversations. Looking forward to being a part of it.

Enjoy your time here and hope to see you posting more.

Hiya, everyone. Moved from Texas to NW of Boston metro (Acton) a couple years ago and am just getting to my CCL. Took up a stronger interest in firearms just a few years ago and bought a DSA SA-58 FAL as my first acquisition. My assets are waiting out of state until my CCL comes through and I get my FAL modified to be MA legal. Looking to move into hunting and skeet shooting presuming I can find a patient mentor. Enjoyed my CCL class with Mike Fontaine at the Leominster Sportsman Club, which I am considering joining with my family.

/salute

Hello all. I've been reading the forums for a while now and finally decided to sign up. I have been around firearms my whole life, got my LTC as soon as I turned 21, and have building my gun collection since. I work at AAA Police Supply in Dedham, MA and enjoy the gun talk I find here on the forums. It seems like a great community here.

Hi Everyone,

I'm in MA. I first got involved in shooting years ago when I was a teen and my mother used to bring me to a shooting range on the weekends. There, I was allowed to use her gun for target practice. Also the range master would sometimes let me try various firearms he would have with him. I've had my LTC ever since I was old enough to get it, though it's been a while now since I've been out shooting. I found Northeastshooters while searching for some information I needed. It's nice to see that there's such a lively community here.

That is excellent that your mother helped bring you into firearms. Glad you finally found the forum here you will be pleased I'm sure.
Hope to see you support GOAL, COMM2A, GOA and the other pro-2nd organizations in the good fight.

Hey everybody! Long time reader, but it didn't feel right actually joining until I could say that I actually was a shooter. Well as of this week, after several months of jumping through legislative hoops, I am now the very proud owner of an S&W M&P Shield (thanks Four Seasons Firearms)! I've got all my accessories coming in the mail next week, then I'm gonna look into joining a club and putting some rounds through this thing. [smile]

Welcome and thanks for posting BostonStrong,

Many enjoy the shield hope you come to enjoy it as well. What club are you thinking of joining?

Checking in as requested. Just moved back to the People's Republic after 7 years away. Just got my LTC A and joining a GC in western MA to start shooting again. Trying decided between Northampton Revolver or something in Easthampton. Primarily going to be pistol and .22 rifle. Skeet and trap much later if at all.

I'm leaning towards Braintree Rifle and Pistol, it's only a 20 minute drive and it has a trap field (a shotty is next on my list). Unfortunately the next new member orientation meeting is in September [thinking]
