AR-15 thread... I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

[shocked][bow][cheers]

Helluva first post. I love the setups! How do you like the Triple Tap breaks? What are the barrel lengths? Fantastic guns, and welcome aboard.

Thanks...

Honestly I got the same results with my PWS FSC556 when I was running it. The PWS just sucked indoors and for the others around me on the range. Also my agency purchased Knights NT4 Suppressors (which sux by the way) last year and I had to change out the PWS. The Triple Tap was the only brake I could go with that wasn't going to void any warranty on the suppressor.

The barrel lengths are 11.5" and 16".

Oh no, the Triple Taps were on my dime the NT4 was the only thing on the departments but I got them at the GSA rate so they were $100 cheaper. The NT4 is very heavy and isn't 'ear safe'. Before we purchased them we had (1) NT4 and (1) AAC M4 2000 for evaluations. The AAC was lighter, could be fired without hearing protection (10 decibels quieter) and was cheaper. I don't know what happened but when it came down to purchasing them the armorer got the NT4's. They could take a lot more abuse so maybe it was just the need of having something that was going to last. Plus they came with their own flash hiders (which I didn't use). If we went the AAC route that would have been another purchase.

Like I said, if you want pretty much the same results (for the shooter) the PWS is very close.

What's that on the magazine well? Slick rifles you got there!

Thank you. I have the Blue Force Gear 'Redi-Mod' on the magazine well. It's basically a Redi-Mag system that Blue Force Gear machines out all the extra useless metal to lessen the overall weight by 25%. It holds a spare magazine and with some practice and the use of the Magpul BAD Lever you can dramatically reduce your reload times. Not really a big deal and it does add weight to the weapon system but I like knowing if I have a situation I need to pull my patrol rifle out I have 60 rounds ready to go just in case I’m unable to make it to the trunk for more ammo.

How does it attach? How do you like the KNS Anit roll pins? Thinking about using a set on my next build.

If you look at the last pick you'll see the plastic 'spacer block' on the front of the lower receiver. The Redi-Mod’s frame is like a ‘C’ and will just easily fit around the magazine well, then insert the spacer block, put in your two allen screws and tighten down. It comes with a rubber sleeve you put on under it to protect your receiver from scratches.

I never really saw a need for the KNS pins until I started using a the suppressor at work. I’m guessing due to the increase heat and pressure in the receiver and will all the parts expanding its loosened up the tight fit of the trigger group pins. I was able to push on them with my finger and they would slide out about an 1/8th of an inch either way. So I got them to prevent the pins from falling out or causing further wear on the receiver. Also adds a little more of a ‘custom’ look to the rifle.

Here is a quick YouTube video of the Redi-Mod in use (not mine, just one I found):

So it just snaps around the magwell, no need to remove any parts? so it would be pretty easy to move form one rifle to another?

Charles Daly Defense (now defunct) lower
Stag Arms 1H flat top upper with detachable carry handle. 16" 1:9 twist chrome lined barrel. YHM Phantom comp/brake.
Stag Arms lower parts kit
RRA collapsible stock.
Troy single point sling (not pictured)

Putting the lower together actually was not too hard at all. I had it done it 2 hours. It's a lot more satisfying than buying a ready to fire rifle.

Easy... Can be changed out in 5 minutes. That is unless your running a Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard. Because they have the allen screw instead of the push pin and they don't fold down. So you'd have to remove it completely if you wanted to put on and remove the rubber sleeve.

Mark 12 Mod 0 Upper is Compass Lake Engineering. Its is a 18 inch barrel with rifle gas system as a SPR Mod 0 that is setup for the PRI flip sight and the instead of the Ops Inc. collar and brake I went with the PWS FSC556. The Douglas barrel has a Wylde chamber, standard ramps and 1:7 twist. The other changes over the standard Mod 0, Instead of the ARMS bipod and scope mounts I went with a Larue Bipod mount and as of now it has US Optics scope rings. That will soon change to a Larue SPR mount. Stock is Vltor A2 length, Grip is Ergo (right hand), Lower is Noveske and the trigger is a Jard 3lb. Harris 6-9 Bipod. Scope is a NF 2.5 x 10.

Have not had a chance to shoot it yet, hope to run some round through it soon though.

[/rasbery]

Centemass, I am sorry you do not like it I was going to offer it to you for very very little money as a Plt deal, But....Since I am in HQ again and you do not seem to like it. I guess Ill be forced to keep it.

:-p

And still not even close to done...

Jay is that a Mini-Y on there? My ears are bleeding...[shocked] over the internet. [wink]

The one upshot about those comps is if you like shooting alone it makes it easy to clear off the line a little bit. [grin]

Bruce,

Is that the integrated bipod and mount that they just came out with? or is it the Harris, and the little block that they sell?

As it sits at the moment. There are still a few things I would like to do.

Spikes lower w/ Stag LPK
Olympic upper and BCG w/ Olympic heavy 16" barrel
YHM Diamond rifle length rail
Stag pinned collapsible stock.

I want to add a few things still. Some Magpul goodies will make their way on it someday.
