Massachusetts Bill HD.4420 "An act to modernize gun Laws"

For those not going or coming from Portugal

I wonder if folks have contacted their local police chief and if you heard back?

I sent an email last week that did not yet get a response. At the risk of being a nuisance (which I don't care about anyway) I am going to hand deliver a letter to the station tomorrow.

eh, my chief just had one of his detectives shot in the face by some 20Y.O. P.O.S. so, probably not the week to ask how he feels about guns, lol

Bro, your forefathers didn’t run
They also didn’t have internet, but plenty of people with actual livelihoods to lose.
We’re soft. Not enough care about the issue to the same extent. To most, gun ownership in MA is an edge lord hobby because screw the Dems.
-Someone who most certainly is fluffy.

I can't offer any easy answers but from experience I can say don't run

Another one today...

BigAce74,
Thank you for reaching out to me. I appreciate your dedication to protecting your Second Amendment rights and your concerns regarding HD 4420. Please note that the members-only listening sessions are separate from public hearings. We have a disagreement at the moment between the House and Senate on where to send this Bill (Judiciary Committee or Public Safety Committee) and that will be the topic of discussion over the next two days. Once this has been assigned to a committee, I fully suggest you and others sign up for public testimony either in person or through Zoom which I will notify you of once the details and date is released.

I fully understand your opposition to HD 4420 and your belief that the bill infringes upon the rights granted to us by the Second Amendment. It is important to ensure that any legislation we consider upholds our constitutional rights while also addressing the concerns of public safety.

I take seriously my responsibility to represent the views and concerns of my constituents, including law-abiding gun owners like yourself. I share your commitment to safeguarding our constitutional rights and believe in the importance of upholding the principles enshrined in the Second Amendment.

I appreciate your engagement on this matter, and WILL NOT be supporting this proposed legislation. Your voice is crucial in shaping our approach to gun laws and ensuring the protection of our constitutional rights.

Should you have any further questions or if there is anything else you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact me. I value your participation in our democratic process and encourage you to continue expressing your thoughts and concerns.

Thank you again for sharing your perspective on this important issue.

Sincerely,

Our local Rep is firmly against the bill..... after a couple back and forth emails with his aid.. here's the reply I got.

RDG
The whole bill is unconscionable. It's a slap in the face to law abiding citizens who own firearms for self-defense, hunters, sportsmen, the constitution, and democracy itself.

My hunch is that it's unlikely the bill, as it's currently written, will be the bill that ends up on the floor for a vote. In theory the bill still needs to go through a public hearing, though it's possible they will try to ram it through without one.

We're keeping a close eye on the bill in case there is any movement. Feel free to stay in touch with our office as things progress.

Best Wishes,

Joel

His reply to my first email in case anyone starts keeping score...

Hey RDG,
Thanks for the email. As a responsible gun owner and strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, Representative Boldyga is fiercely opposed to HD4420.

He will stand against this blatant attack on the constitution and the tens of thousands of law abiding citizens across the Commonwealth who legally own firearms.

Rep. Boldyga is 100% a no vote.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to our office if you have any questions regarding this matter or if we can be of further service.

In Liberty,

Joel

Many people posting responses from their reps.

How about making a chart of all the reps and weather they are for or against.

That was we can have a clue who to target for emails, calls, and meetings.

If only 10 are against out of over 160 reps - that should tell you how things are going.
The ones againts 4420 are just blowing smoke up are asses. They don't want to lose their next election by being primaried by some democrat with all the overthrow the current rep/senator money. Or even worse nothing for you in your district and no committees for you. You can just stay powerless untill you get voted out.

My hunch is most of these types are a solid no as written. Change a couple of things and they will get squishy. I want to hear they are against ANY gun control legislation PERIOD.

They caught one of the shooters. He’s probably already rolled on his “boys”.

I’ll let you in on a secret. The only reason it may not pass is because the state senate is upset that someone pissed in their cheerios and didn’t follow “the process” for introducing this. This is MA not some purple state they have the votes and then some.

I emailed both my senator and rep and crickets.

They could literally put forth a bill that would jail all LTC holders and it would pass without debate in MA. Ok, I’m being a little hyperbolic, but not by much.

I don't want to start a new thread but...

What happened to the 100,000 AR's in NY and CT?

Are they forever in hiding never to go to the range?

So, the police in those states are NOT going door to door???

Surely the police know for certain that some people have AR's.

With non-compliance in Massachusetts to follow 4420 - will people just hide their AR's and it would be an open secret???
