Trying to figure it out on here, bitching and scheming with one’s fellow inmates, is a better use of time than calling and leaving messages with a recording or a junior commie staffer.
When calling I was able to speak to junior commie staffer. If voice mail came up I hung up and called again.

Some spend more time posting here instead of taking action that has potential to make a difference.

Where did the police chiefs that were speaking out go ??

I think they have some secret clubhouse somewhere, where they sit around with big cigars, comparing the height of their jackboots and feeling self-important.

They got what they wanted removed ?

Yep. Convenient, ain't it?

I got pre-prebans 🤣

But answering OP that I’m sure doesn’t want to dump $2800 into a $600 long gun, one dealer stitched the hack bill text together below so if it’s accurate…“with the capacity to accept a detachable feeding device” which a fixed mag is not. Fine for a range gun until scrotus intervenes or comes up with the preban $$$.

Does Five Seasons say Any different?

GUNS THAT ARE REGISTERED BY AUGUST 1ST WILL BE GRANFATHERED AND TRANFERABLE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SELL THEM.

New or Used will NOT be legal to bring into the State. Prices While Supplies Last.

New Definition of Assault Rifle, Covers many more rifles.

Buy as much as you can, some for the grand kids.

So what's the bullshit with the roster? Any firearm sold by a dealer has to be approved. So something as simple as a 1903 springfield or ruger 700 can't even come in becuase it isn't on the roster like the existing pistol roster? If so that's some serious control freak bull shit

Yes. Exactly that. All firearms will have to be on the approved roster.

No current Mass cases I believe.

But AWB and pistol rosters are being challenged in different states in different circuits.

Maryland, Illinois and California all have cases in flight on these

FPC is Granata v Campbell and NAGA is litigating the Capen v Campbell AWB case. Both were kicked back in light of Bruen.

I haven't cared about the roster in the past, I'm not about to start caring now.

When I got divorced, I was instructed to mail my child support check to a DOR “lockbox” and it would be added to my ex-wife’s state debit card. I mailed the first check early and it was cashed. The lockbox showed no record of it. I called to make sure it went thru, and they said it did. Two weeks later , same thing. Two weeks after that, I got a notice in the mail that I was three payments behind and they would be contacting my employer and taking the payments directly out of my check from here on.

I didn’t bother contacting anyone in government about this current issue, because they don’t give one single f*** about me.

They tell you there’s a process and a format to follow, but they have no intention of honoring their side. They just do what they want and claim it was the result of your own negligence.

They don’t care if you intend to comply or not. We are the enemy and that is the only lens they view us through.

While there are many things I am still trying to figure out in regards to all this BS, I keep reading how it’s a ban on almost all semi automatic guns.
After that blip most synopsis go on and talk about rifles.
However does this also ban semi automatic pistols?
Forgive me if it’s been discussed and I didn’t see it.

I knew my calling and letter writing and hand wringing would do no good.
Everything has to go through testing for the roster since there is no longer a frame workaround.
This also applies to rifles and shotguns since everything is a firearm now.
So how many rifles or shotguns are on the roster today? Zero
How many will be there in six months?
Probably zero.

very late to the party but I also got emails from local gun shops.
Is the short version that pretty much all semi auto rifles with detachable mags cannot be sold in mass after 8/1 and all pre ban mags need to be registered and locked away?

@Hardwired

Im not sure FS is totally correct with this statement. The law continues:

"...or by a holder of a license to sell under section 122; provided, that the assault-style firearm shall be registered in accordance with section 121B"

Section 121B is the new registration system this law creates, not the "registration" system we have now. This seems to indicate that as long as the gun is legally possessed in MA by Aug 1st, by a dealer or individual, it is grandfathered. That would mean that dealers can sell their inventory but not re-stock. In other words, they dont have to be "registered" in the current system by Aug 1st.

IANAL
121b doesn't specify a NEW portal it simply says DCJIS must develop and maintain one
The current system meets many of the specs so it will either be the basis of the system or the data will transferred.

The law clearly states the guns must be registered - and Cargill makes itnclear that the text of the law prevails, period.
Therefore in order to for the exemption to have meaning (and it's there so it must have meaning) a system of registrationust be available before 8/1/24. Also for the text for copies and duplicates to be meaningful there must have been in place a system to register firearms prior to 7/20/16.
That system is the transaction portal.

seriously though. Who does one call or email to get answers to questions about this?

I saw a post or two from someone who had emailed a question, and got a seemingly pretty serious official answer. He posted the screenshotted reply.

But there’s like 4-5 threads about this subject (in one way or another) and I can’t find the post to ask that person directly. Is it the AGs office? Who can answer questions about this?

No registration on mags.
However since all guns will be firearms and firearms must be on the roster to be sold, the only guns available Wil be those on the roster today.

Nobody can at this point. You can take two approaches.

1) not give a f***
2) use your best judgement and wait and see

As I read it, the roster will only be of semi-auto firearms that are OK and not OK, and will not apply to bolt/lever/pump firearms?

Got it. Can an MA dealer put it in the portal before it's sold? Or does it have to be sold to be in the portal.
